Star Cottages?

Postby MelissaZag » Thu Sep 28, 2017 4:44 am

Does anyone have any pictures, as described in this oral to written history by a family member, of Star's Cottages?

"They lived in row cottages joined together up a hillside...to each cottage on the way up the slope (cottages still there as described in 1970). They lived in “Star’s Cottages. At the bottom of the hill was All Saints Street, the pub & store plus other small businesses (the church was still active in 1970)."

This would have been in the late 1800's and early 1900's.

All I can offer is:-

No login, you can magnify once only without login. If not as I expect, find Old Town and select map from 1956 scale 1:1,250 - Starr's Cottages are NE of Crown Lane

https://www.old-maps.co.uk/#/Map/582829 ... /13/101329

The following site you'll need a login to magnify to useful degree ....

Front view .... remember you're looking between (but not on either of) Tackleway on left and All Saints St on right

Back View ... . Tackleway is close to the East Hill. Footpath down the hill ends opposite Crown Lane. Starr's Cottages run down behind wide building with 'quaint' windows.

And for recent view https://www.bing.com/maps/

First get yourself to the area, then take the Birds Eye view option. In addition you can have one of four angles to get an all-round view.
