Webber Motors

Postby Chris Page » Fri Nov 03, 2017 9:39 am

I have just discovered my uncle, Harry Robert WEBBER, who was born in Hastings in 1905, lived at the Bo-Peep public house in St Leonards in the 1920s where his father was the licensee.

Next to the Bo-Peep was Webber Motors where my uncle worked, but I cannot find any information about it. Does anyone know about Webber Motors, please?

Thanks and regards

Have had a look in the main library in hastings but sadly there are no photos of the building. Had a look in the street directories and it is first listed in 1925 as "Webbers garage - Telephone 694" with the address as West marina. In 1928 it had changed to "Webbers motors ltd -(bo peep works)" and stayed this way through the 1930s/40's , by the time of the 1962 directory it had changed hands and was listed as "Bo peep garage and motor engineers - A huttlestone proprietor - telephone 3166" . By the 1960's the street address had changed ( although the building hadn't moved) - changing from 125 west hill road to 26 Grosvenor crescent. The building is still there although probably much changed and is a tyre shop.
