The Church's of Hastings

Postby Richard » Wed May 08, 2019 6:14 pm

We have some wonderful old Church buildings in Hastings, from the days when religion ruled the community. Even the tolling of a bell evokes a sense of happiness.
I am not particularly interested in religion but have to admire and find a sense of well-being when I see an old church.
Does anyone have a favourite?

Hollington Church in the Wood (no longer in the wood I understand) and I have an engaving of it on my wall to this day. I was married there but at the time had no idea that many generations before, my forebears were in the congregation. And St Clements (Halton) not the old town one that was demolished which is where Glebe Close now stands, lastly St Mary in the Castle which must have been so grand in its hey day with the surrounding crescent.
