Henry Rose, Grocer in Queens Road

Postby Eastbournian » Thu Feb 17, 2022 8:37 pm

My great-great-grandfather, Henry Rose, died in 1917. He was a grocer with three adjacent shops in Queens Road, nrs 20, 21,22. The family home was at 63 St Helens Road. I have never seen pictures of the shops in Queens Road but we frequently visited the family home in the 1940s/50s, when my great-aunts, Lilian Rose (known as 'Bill') and Marion Rose lived there with their friend, Connie Horton, who worked at Gambrell's pram shop. If there are any pictures in the achieve I'd be grateful for links.

A mention of no. 22 - but not a grocer

No mention, but flavour of Queens Rd - the first pic has QR in mid-shot. Last on right is almost to your numbers ... I think. No shop fronts at that stage.
