Hi, I recently acquired an F S Mann CDV (with the usual brown circular 13 Wellington Place printing on the card mount), I'd love to know exactly where on the seafront it was. Does anyone recognize this image? Thanks, Regards, Rob

I think this is looking east, with the former buildings opposite Pelham Crescent on the right of shot

This photo looking north

Many thanks for this post, so I take it that this is Caroline Place, with Beach Terrace on the right. Much appreciated!

I think Castle St/Breeds Place - Beach Terrace being on the other side of the 'road' rather than in rough alignment.

Very old map here -

Many thanks for the map link, I had not seen that book or map before.

The National Library of Scotland has an amazing online collection of zoomable OS maps, https://maps.nls.uk/os/townplans-england/index.html (just drag the purple outline map and use the scroll wheel zoom in and to find the map that you require, then click on the relevant one, the available maps pop up top right, click on the one you require). Enjoy!

Frustratingly the 1875 Town Plan sheet showing this section of the town is missing, the one to the north showing Wellington Square and the northern part of the Castle is at https://maps.nls.uk/view/229917273 The link to the town plans is https://maps.nls.uk/os/townplans-england/

The Hastings map that I looked at, and took the street names from, was the 25 inch OS maps https://maps.nls.uk/geo/find/#zoom=7.0& ... &point=0,0
Actual map 1892 https://maps.nls.uk/view/103674748 again frustratingly there is similarly no copy of the 25" 1872 map in the NLS collection.

Hope that these links help you and other members.
