Hello all.
I have an old army comrade who is now resident at Chelsea Royal Hospital and he finds himself with some time on his hands. He has started delving into family history etc.

He has found that one of his great grandfathers was in Hollington Workhouse. His name was Joseph Turner and my old mate, knowing that I am local to St Leonards has asked for some help.

I have done some basic digging and found that Hollington workhouse was a satellite of Battle workhouse along with several other parishes.

I would like to know, if possible where Hollington workhouse was located along with any old photos that there may be. Its a very long shot but maybe a census which contains Joseph Turner would be a huge bonus.

I was sorry to see that nobody replied to your post, particularly for a Chelsea Pensioner.

However, I have recently been looking up old maps for New Romney, and found they are held by 'The National Library of Scotland, they date from 1820s - 1960s. I have managed to locate the workhouse of New Romney. It is free to use, and you can usually Google or Bing, and workhouse records will come up. I will watch this post with interest, and would appreciate if you find any reference to my ancestors, Morris, and Page.
