How about a local contacts page to meet single people in our own area???

Colin ;)

Sounds like a good idea.
It would be good to hear a few more opinions.

Not sure it would work. Seems that nearly everyone doesn't bother to register for the forum as it is, preferring to remain as "guest" status despite all the advantages of signing in.

If more people bothered to register then all registered members would be able to pm (private message) each other for free and it could be the same as having a singles network anyway.
I can see the admins perspective in allowing guests to post messages as it allows for far more posts, but would a registered users only forum be the way to go?

Anybody got any other opinions?

I don't think we need a local contact page on here, it's ok for asking and answering questions on this forum.

And as already mentioned "if people were registered members " they can pm each other without having to start a local contact page :x

Okay, so mixed opinions on this one.

As Mags pointed out I could make a section of the forum only accessible to registered members but you can all send private messages to each other as it is, once logged in.

Okay, point taken. Perhaps not the best place for a singles area.

May I recommend Sussex Singles to anyone who's looking to meet new people from Sussex.

Thanks

I don't see why you would even need to register to see what sort of people are looking for like-minded "contacts" in certain categories
Of course 'dating' would be implied if 'singles' were the only contact encouraged

I think broaden the category away from "singles only" and allow people to make contact generally
I say this partly because if you are new to an area you might want to meet 'friends' and have no other easy outlet other than on a site like this one

It seems a very good idea in my opinion but perhaps people are worried about being thought of as 'single' as meaning sad or lonely ?

The local kids seem to have no trouble meeting up_ _ _

Okay Richard, lets do this, I will start a new forum section for meeting people. Can you think of a catchy title for it? "Make new friends" sounds a bit sad as you say.
