Forum RSS feed

I have been working on developing an RSS feed for the forum which has now gone live. Anyone who uses a feed reader can tap in to it for an updated list of the last 10 posts. The layout needs some tweeking but I think it's a good start.

seems useful to be able to scour the latest posts, which can be difficult to see "at a glance" otherwise

not sure what a 'feed reader' is (when it's at home) ?

Hi Richard, a feed reader will pull in these RSS feeds from multiple places for you. So you could have for example the latest from BBC news, Hastings Observer stories and 1066 forum all in one handy interface with links to any of the snippets that take your fancy.

Looks like mine needs more work though as an "and" sign in a post seems to stop it working. Back to the drawing board for now I think.

REALLY SIMPLE SYNDICATION !!

Well your link works well from the Hastings Forum Web Site

It allows me to add a Bookmark to 'Mozilla' browser but it does not (currently) open anything further_ _ _

I also allows me to add it to "Outlook Express" where the latest posts are listed as seperate entries, not as a whole page as shown on the Website for Hastings Forum

This is rather impressive and something I will be more aware of in future

UPDATE !!

The "Feed Reader" (with the icon of a yellow square an orange dot and two concentric orange lines) has embedded itself in the top of my Browser menu and it links directly to the same information as does the link on the Hastings Forum Feed (the one you posted here recently)

Hi Richard, nice to hear positive comments. Makes spending time on the developments all the more worth while.
