For posting images I often find myself frustrated by the difficulty in getting images of 256 KB or less, to upload in the forum posts.

Thanks Richard, are we talking about avatar image or embedded attachments in posts?
I will try to sort it if the limits are too low on the forum.

I've used IrfanView for many years for such tasks as image size reduction. It can do a lot more besides, and it's free!

Geoff,
I meant the uploading of embedded images.
Is there an easy way to see if the image will be the right size, I have to guess at present.

I have taken the filesize limit off the forum. The default was set to 256kb as you say, this is far too small in my opinion.

Can someone try out uploading something bigger as a test for me please? (the admin account has no restrictions so I can't test it).

Hopefully you don't need to worry about reducing your files any more.

I was worried that Geoff would be hamstrung by needing to allow big files using up his valuable resources.
