Website messages

I have received email notification of a message sent to my private messages inbox (sent yesterday) and yet I see there are still '0' new messages for me at present.
Is there ever a delay in receiving these?
It seems odd as the website sent me an alert in the first place, on Sep 29th 5:11 p.m.

my folder is only 22% full.

Not sure Richard, hopefully just a glitch. Or someone sent you a message and then changed their mind and deleted it before you looked. Possibly?

Thanks Geoff, it was from someone who was being messed about by a Scaffold co.,
and had read about my previous issues.
