Hi,
I just started to buy a flat on Stockleigh Road, which I really liked the interior of, so spacious, and I checked with a couple of local people about the neighbourhood, who reckoned that it has got a lot better than it used to be..
(There are big rocks on an empty site down the road towards London Road, where joy riders used to dump cars).
Anyhow, I was finally put off when I popped over one evening to find an extremely drunk man staggering up the road, and hovering over the wall of the flat I liked, plus, looking over the road, saw two bare chested blokes hanging out of their window, looking unappealing to me.. and finally, drove through a shouting match between a resident in a flat on the left side of the road and one on the right (in the new block there).
..apart from this, it could be a great neighbourhood. But I dont want to live there.

Full of heroin addicts, drunk violent arseholes, dog toilet, paedophiles, baseballcapped delinquents, burglaries, car theft, asylum seekers! Generally the toilet of England ,James and Decimus Burton would have shelved the whole project if they had known what St Leonards would stand for in the millenia

Indeed, the majority of areas in the UK have down and outs to deal with, Hastings being no exception. I have lived here for the majority of my life and have yet to see somewhere better that I can live in without talking crazy money.

I too am very offended by your harsh statement and have to disagree with what you are saying. Hastings is a pretty good place to live in my opinion, Stockleigh Road is not the best area agreed but you can't say the whole town is bad surely?

This town is full of drop outs. Dole spongers, lazy drug addicts etc _ _ _Chavs.
The town itself is a great place, it has a lot to offer, but, imho, it's let down by a high percentage of people that live here. Who on here can honestly say that they can go out on a fri or sat night and feel safe in this town?
Example: A friend of mine was on his way home after a night on the town when for no apparent reason he was set on by 5 youths, he was beaten to the ground and had his mobile phone and GBP80 stolen from him. Did anyone stop to help? I think not!
Yes, I do agree that this problem exists in many towns and cities across the country, but here in Hastings and surrounding areas the 'Chavs' out number the honest, hard working folk 10 - 1. Just look at the amount of council estates in such a small area, these areas are a haven for the inbreeds of society.

St Leonards over the last 20 years has descended into a haven for alcholics drug addicts and asylum seekers, i live on the outskirts of it and in my opinion it is not going to get any better , as previously mentioned it is the toilet of the SE. Hastings is going the same way and i for one cannot wait to get the hell out of it m it offers a poor wage structurem little or no opportunities for work and seems to be a paradise for the effluent of society . There are good people in the town for sure but they are becoming overshadowed by the actions of the assholes and cretins that inhabit it. I have lived here all my life and watched the town i love literally go to waste, shame really because geographically , there is not another town to touch it on the South coast , with its views and local country side, not to mention the historical heritage attached to it.
