It is one area that I would steer clear of.mainly flats a few homes owned, but as with most of the victorian properties these days converted into flats or maisonettes not one to live in if you have young children

Well I hav'nt lived here long only 3mths(Hastings) but I work in St leonards and I can honestly say I regret moving here. There just seems to be people staggering around drunk with cans of lager in their hand as early as 9am. It probably isnt their fault if they're bored because there is no work. Advice to people who are thinking of moving here only move if you have a job lined up because work is scarce. I will probably get critisied for writing this but it is only an opinion and hopefully I am moving soon.

There are very few areas worth moving to in Hastings and St.Leonards, the town is still generally dirty and unkept with rubbish bags scattered everywhere feeding the seagulls.
Parkview, upper clivevale,St.Pauls side of Bohemia,St.Helens Rd.Low Park Rd.are some of the nicer parts.
DON'T move here if you are disabled, the council does not like disabled drivers and like to discriminate against them,ex.:the parking for disabled drivers in the town center is = to zero.
In general the town is still dingy and full of foreign students throughout the summer months.

Hi Ya Ann Brooker \ Angela
Am Dan from London
We too are thinking of moving to St Leonards ,its was nice to read you views on the matter. Its so important to shoose the right location especially when you live in one area for so long and when try to move to an area so far away from home. we are hopeing to move in the next 3 to 4 months,so any more info would be really appreciate

Hi,

I was very interested in what you had to say about the area in general.
We have a young family and have been house hunting in hastings and st leonards.
We really like what we have seen so far and are keen to make the move as we are sure it will be great for the kids.
Is "Bohemia" a good area in general or is it considered a not so good part of St.leonards ?

What do you think about Springfield Road, Cloudesley Road, Chapel Park Road for instance?

Very nervous about making the wrong choice as the houses look so lovely but we have heard a lot about "bad" roads whan we have chatted to people generally but can't get a good feel for why a particular road is considered "bad".

Any advice very gladly received. Thanks

[I've been in St Leonards now for 13 years most of my adult life. I would stay away from places like Carisbrooke Road and Kenilworth, they are known as bedsit alley. Mercatoria is said to be resonable. Gensing area is quite pretty and there are quite a few good streets in that area with lovely nice big houses. If you keep away from right near Warrior Square station and I've also been told that Warrior Square and Hollington is a not that nice. West St leonards is really nice> If you need specifics on a road, email me.
Hastings and St Leonards have a thriving black and ethnic community, which brings new energy and brillance to the area. It also has a large "new age" culture and lots of artists display their wares in the many art exhibitions. There is always so much going on in Hastings underneath the touristy place that people take it for.

Hi,
Reading all the comments about Hastings/St Leonards, both good and bad I could be reading about almost any seaside town in the south east,,ALL the comments could be applied to where I live, Ramsgate,, I think you have to go and see ,listen to all the advice,,apart from what Estate Agents tell you :w00t: :( and then make up your own mind,,a place is what you make it,, make friends, join in and nowhere is as bad as it seems,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
