Moving to Woodland Vale Road

Postby Emilia » Wed Mar 07, 2007 12:43 pm

We have had an offer accepted on a house on Woodland vale road and we should (fingers crossed) be moving down from North London in about 8-12 weeks time. What do people think of this area? The road seems very quiet with some lovely houses.

Compared to london St leonards seems a very lovely place despite some of the negative stuff I've read on here - i'd like to see some of the negative folk try out 'Norf Laaaandon' for size!

Why is "abbreviation" such a long word?

I must tell you Emilia the problems have restarted.

Unless you are Anti Social I would advise you to be prepared as it is a problem area.

If you have children be careful who they make friends with as in my road there is a family who cause us distress especially with their football and have the police there constantly.

My opinion differs completely from this poster, I find the area nice and would definitely not describe it as a problem area. The residents are friendly and I find a real sense of community there. The houses and gardens are well tended which is always a good sign I think. Maybe there is a bit of noise late at night from time to time as people walk up from the station but nothing that doesn't just add to the vibrancy. Best advice is to spend as much time (at various times of the day and night) as possible in any area you're thinking of moving to and speak to as many people as possible to try to get a real feel for the place. After all we all like different things don't we?

Where are you cheb?

This area is still a problem.
I am a member of the local residents association and we get various reports from residents about crime/anti social behaviour.

Most resdients are really friendly and look after their properties.

I live on Woodland Vale Road, have done for over 10 years. Don't feel there's such a strong community spirit as there used to be now all the flats have been built, mainly due to the fact that people living in them move on relatively quickly but I still love living here.

Definitely wouldn't describe it as a problem area, but as I said before we all form different opinions and I guess if you like a place then you stay but if you don't then you move on to somewhere that suits you better.

I find that problems come and go, like when I wrote about problems restarting it was with youngsters from Southwater road and the Sycamores in Woodland Vale Road.
I like living here and have done for 12 years. I also feel part of Southwater by being on the residents association.
