Hi,

We're aiming to move to Hastings too in about 2 months, and although I used to live there in my teens, that was about 20 yrs ago now (I can't believe it though!) and don't actually know anyone there now.
I'm abit anxious about starting totally afresh, and would love to regain the community feeling I experienced when I used to live in Hastings and get to know neighbours, new people etc like you.
I'll let you know how we get on and anything useful we discover if you like?

Fi

Hi Trace
We are thinking of moving to Hastings soon from north of England and not put of by some of the negative postings.Just the beach and layed back pace is enough to draw us here.We are both in our late forties and looking forward to it.

Hi all. I am thinking of moving down, from London, too. My concern is also making friends down there, and trying to make sure I don't move to the 'wrong' area, as I don't know the place too well. I'd also be concerned about finding work as I wouldn't be able to afford to commute into London for work. The other concern is, not being able to afford to move back to London (where all my friends and family are) if I feel I've made the wrong decision!! It is lovely in Hastings though. Wish I was brave enough to just 'do it'!.

Hi Trace

I am also considering moving to Hastings, but I live near London at moment and don't know the area (hastings) well at all. its the cheap nice looking property and being near sea that temps me. I did visit (on my own) for one night recently and liked it. Like you I am in late 40's and would be moving for a fresh start/making new friends, etc. Did you take the plunge?

Moving from London to Hastings will probably be the best thing you do.

Clean air, moments from rolling stunning countryside, great beaches, great pubs. I think St Leonards is the place to go, the housing stock here is amazing and hugely affordable by London standards. Glorious streets of period villas and stately houses. Be quick though, property prices are about to rocket in St Leonards.
