I've lived in Hastings between 1996-1997 and lived both in Hastings and St Leonads on sea and I love both areas and I've also lived in Bexhill on sea. Now I live in Eye, Suffolk but would like to return to hastings, as I'm an East Sussex girl at heart. The place is safe and there are loads of green areas.

Please don't be put off by negative comments. St Leonards is a wonderful place to move to. It is friendly vibrant and more multicultural than Hastings. You can find all kinds of cuisines from Caribbean to Indian. In fact the Taj Mahal on Western road was recently voted the best Indian food in the the south east! You have the station which connects you to London, Brighton, Gatwick and Ashford. Many folks are moving here from Brighton and, of course London because it really is like Brighton used to be 10 - 15 years ago. For information of what's happening in central St Leonards, be sure to visit www.thekingsroad.net. I hope you enjoy your new life in St Leonards.

Not sure what experience Jo39 is drawing upon to form an opinion, if you are buying a house, St Leonards is DEFINITELY the place to buy, the whole area is going through huge positive change and regeneration and you will get the best bang for your buck right now and also see the best return on investment as prices are climbing as they are playing catch up to the rest of the area.
