I heard mention once of an idea to have a cable car( ski lift ) type thing possibly running from the west hill to the east hill.
Personally i think it sounds like a fantastic idea as the views of the old town and the sea whilst travelling across the old town valley would be quite splendid and the thrill of being able to get to the east hill fom the west hill in a matter of minutes would be a real thrill, as without this facility it is actually quite a chore to get up to the east hill/ west hill especially if one is old or not native to the town, in which case you have to know the route anyway;.
I think it would attract loads of tourism, it would be fairly inexpensive to set up and easy to maintain and would eclipse the pier in terms of fun factor and value for money.
Your thoughts??

Re: Aerial cable car.
That idea has been around for a few years, it keeps resurfacing.
It does sound like a good idea although some would say it would ruin the skyline views_ _ __ _ _I doubt it will happen anytime soon, if ever.

There is Cable Car running at Great Orme:

There is one proposed for Chatham:

Perhaps the distance from East to West Hill envisaged at Hastings is far too short, not sure of the cost either - who would pay for it?
