Can you have fun in Hastings?

Postby Kristina » Thu Nov 02, 2006 11:00 am

I am thinking about moving to Hastings because of a job offer, but Im a little afraid that Im going to be bored. Can you go out and have fun here? How about restaurants and cafs? I really love Brighton, does Hastings have any of the vibrant energy that Brighton has? Are there any universities here?

Hastings is run down, rough, overpriced restaurants, not safe to go out at night, I want to move as soon as possible. This is my opinion, others may differ!

Hi Kristina, there is quite a bit to do here, but i admit the Town isn't as vibrant as Brighton.
Here are a couple of links that may help_ _ _

http://www.1066online.com/HASTINGS-MAIN ... s-Bars.htm

This may also help_ _ _

As for Universities there is the UCH, University Centre Hastings.

The town's college is Hastings College of Arts and Technology, based in St Leonards, which is soon to move to brand new facilities in Ore Valley and the Station Plaza.

Hope all that helps.

Hi Sandy, I know that is your opinion, but can you name any other town/city that is safe to go out at night? Also you say Hastings is rough, many people from London or any other large cities who visit the forums, say that kids are pussycats compared to some where they come from. Also the Town is going through a major regeneration scheme, so I feel the Town has improved majorly compared to what was like ten years ago. It may seem like i'm trying to pick an arguement, sorry if you feel that way, but I hate to see people talking about my hometown in a negative way and I will nearly aways try to come back with positive comments.

Hi Kristina,

My husband and I moved to Hastings in June and we think it's fun, but I guess it all depends on your definition of fun_ _ _we're homebodies, and I'm from the rural part of the States, so, it doesn't take much to impress me! That said, my husband lived in Brighton for awhile, absolutely loves it there, but still loves Hastings as well. As the previous poster said, some bits of it are rundown, but Brighton has those bits too! Everywhere does. It's not as vibrant as Brighton, but it's smaller, so that's to be expected. You can definately have fun here though, there are several clubs, I don't personally go to them but the people coming out always look like they're having fun lol, some great restaurants, a cinema, interesting shops, standard fare really. I guess it really depends on if you're more comfortable in a big city or a medium/large town. Let me know if you have any more questions, I'd love to help you out!

Hi Everyone

Plenty to do in the area for most age groups. There's lots of clubs and interest groups listed on here too. Try http://www.1066online.com/HASTINGS-MAIN ... -index.htm - most sports, hobbies and recreational activities seem to be covered.

As CSL said, it's not quite Brighton but it's not a bad place to be and much more affordable to live here.

:) To Sandy

I agree wholeheartedly with CSL. I have lived in the area all my life and would not live anywhere else. Like all seaside towns, Hastings does have its problems but it is what you as an individual choose to make out of the area which counts. How may towns can boast the seaside, a wonderful park and a few miles away fairlight country park etc. Quite frankly if you feel that way I think the town is better off without you, but please do not insult those of us who love the place with your negative comments and give those who would like to move into the area a chance to form their own views.

I have lived in London for nearly 30 years, and I dont think my opinions are negative, otherwise I would not have said what I did.
