West Hill / Plynlimmon Rd?

Postby lixxsi » Fri Aug 17, 2012 9:24 pm

Could anyone tell me what this area is like as I am thinking of moving there but unsure - I'm moving from London to Hastings and seen a property there I like. But of course I'd love to hear what others think about it before I do so.

ANY input is helpful, no matter how small you think it might be.

Are shops close? People nice? etc?

Many thanks! :)

Its a dam site nicer than London which lets face it is a dump, people here are friendly unlike London and we are not half as stressed as Londoners, only down side is the lack of jobs.

Woah why the London hate? London is so huge you can't just say "it's a dump" and "people are all like this" - due to it's vastness and population, it's incredibly diverse both in terms of class and what people are like. I don't need to tell you there are plenty of massively high-class areas in London, lol, but this thread isn't about London anyway. I will always love it there, but it's too expensive for me right now.

Lack of jobs is okay as I am self-employed and work from home. All seems lovely from what I can see, and I love it in Hastings from my visits. I just want to make sure I don't move into a bad neighbourhood y'know?

Oh also, if at all possible, could anyone tell me what the net connection is like up there? Any problems or bad quality?

Cheers!

I live in Emmanuel Road (the end nearest Plynlimmon Road) - I like it here but everyone's needs and opinions are different.

We have a wide range of residents in this end of the street and I would be happy to say that 90% are nice.

I can't say anything about Plymlimmon Road other than - as a female - I am happy to walk along it late at night (and there is a convienience shop in the street which is open early until 9pm).

We use AOL and have no major problems (hope that helps)

Many, many thanks Tracey!

A wide range is nice ^_^

And thank you for the input on how you feel about walking down Plynlimmon Road at night; both my partner and I are both quite nervous people when it comes to walking out at night. We try to avoid it as best we can, but sometimes of course needs must.

Fantastic about the convenience shop!

Also many thanks for telling me of your net connection!

All of this info is terrifically helpful!

Still welcoming as much as anyone has. :3

The west facing houses Nos 1- to about 40 have fantastic views over the sea and valley and to Alexandra Park. Good for views of fireworks across the town. The West Hill one minute away provides stunning views in a panorama and easy access to the Old Town. Priory Meadow shopping centre is about 10 minutes walk and if you do not mind walking up and down steps there is a Morrison's supermarket about 15 mins away. I spend a few days in Hastings each year and do not worry about walking around later at night. Last week I walked down St Mary's Terrace which backs on the Plynlimmon's back gardens and there were people out in their front gardens some of whom said hello as I walked by.

Go down for a visit and a meal in the Old Town; walk around evening and night time and get a feel of the area for yourself and partner.

Many, MANY thanks Gerry!

Delighted it's so close to so many wonderful things (I adore the Old Town - didn't realise it was so close!)

Not all places in Hastings have super fast broadband.

My relative in St Matthews Gardens doesn't have it (though I realise that is St Leonards). I've been frequently checking on the sites (BT, Virgin) that offer fibre optic / super fast broadband, and there's no coverage for Plynlimmon Rd either_ _ _ :/
