Pubs

Postby Gaby » Mon Mar 31, 2014 9:12 pm

Evening all,

very simply, as the title says, I just would like to know more about the choice of pubs where to have a good pint (craft ales anyone/anywhere?) and grab some great food.

I am sure that there has been a similar conversation on one of my topics some time ago but I can't dig it out.

Any pub recommendation around Alexandra park/blacklands side would be a bonus!

I don't know any 'craft ales' except what you get from the 'micro-brewery' in "Filo" in the old town.
are there any other 'micro-breweries' in Hastings ?

The Filo is The First In Last Out in High Street good range of real ales. Had a good pint of Courage Directors on my last visit to Hastings. Also try the Stag in All Saints. Not sure of other pubs in the St Helens area

There is the Hastings Brewery which supplies 'craft ales' to The Jenny Lind at 69 High St, Old Town and Whistle Trago at 26 George St, Old Town.

Their website is at http://hastingsbrewery.co.uk/

"Whistle Trago"
(formerly Revolver)

did not know about that change of name, Geoff.

also Hastings Brewery supply the shop across from Morrisons (which used to sell books - 'paperback reader' or something like that !!).
They also sell homespun cakes and bread.

Sorry I meant the Jenny Lind not FILo. They have live music. There are good village pubs with good food. Try Icklesham pubs about 8 miles away.
