Claverham Community College / Kent grammars

We're hoping to move to Hastings this year. Our children are still primary school age, but are very academic, and we're looking into secondary school options.

It seems from their website that Claverham Community College accepts a good number of pupils from Hastings / from outside the catchment area each year.
Does anyone have experience of their children applying and attending? Do many more out of area children apply than get in?
Does anyone know on what basis they prioritise the applicants who are out of area?

I have heard of pupils also going to the Kent grammars from Hastings. Does anyone have any recent experience of this?

Thanks!

Mine attend Claverham and my experience is no chance unless special priority of getting in from Hastings. All based on priority then proximity. Hastings is a great place to live but schools both primary and secondary are not great.

I wish I'd known about village schools before we moved as these take applicants from Hastings and St Leonard's and seem much better than even the most popular primaries in town.

Other secondaries to consider are Robertsbridge or Bexhill. Both have more chance of being offered a place than Claverham which is massively over subscribed each year.

Good luck.
