Moving to Hastings - Job Market etc

Hi,
So we are interested in moving to Hastings and would prefer not to commute to London for work -what is the current job market in the area like?
My husband is in the HVAC/maintenance engineer field and I am in the property management/admin field
Also another important question - are the locals generally friendly? We are in our late 40’s and don’t want to live in a place with the London Freeze
