Hi,
I'm recreating 1960 Hastings as a railway modeller and am building certain areas which were part of my childhood. I remember clearly taking the 155 bus from the town centre up Linton Road and want to get a die cast model of the bus. What I need to know is the actual make of bus - all I remember is that it was single decker and green - can anyone help?

Okay, I can help here, but the following may be a tad 'anoracky' for some - apologies if so_ _ _

The 155 was the Hastings circular service - via The Ridge and the West Hill. Until the early 1970s it was operated mainly either by AEC Reliances with either Weymann or - more usually Harrington bodies - Silverhill Depot had ten of the latter with 7ft 6in wide bodies (standard size was 8ft) especially for the narrow routes over the West Hill - Castle Hill Road was then much narrower than now. However Maidstone and District also had 15 short Albion Nimbus 30 seat buses, some of which were allocated to Hastings and used off-peak on the 155. I have a photo of one of these on the 155 at the bottom of Castle Hill Road..
Hope this helps_ _ _

I seem to remember travelling on the Circular Route on the old trolley buses and later the diesels that replaced them. Can anyone confirm that the trolleys did run that route, or am I imagining things. Also, does anyone know when the Circular Route was discontinued?

Trolleybus Routes - The Circular Route was numbered 2, went via The Ridge. May have been renumbered when diesel buses took over?
