Seafront roadworks

Can't believe the seafront road is having to be repaired yet again. I guess whoever takes on the job would never give a guarantee. They would be out of business by now!

I've never known any small section of road to be repaired so often, but looking around the town, there are many lengths of road (and pavement) that are in greater need. It's almost as if the Council is making sure that those roads most often seen by visitors are well-surfaced, to the detriment of others. If the problem is the underlying structure, then wouldn't it be best to address that instead of continually resurfacing?

I believe the problem is caused by the expansion joints, and also more recently drainage. We did get a hell of a lot of water last winter. I doubt there's much can be done to modify the structure as it's grade 2 listed.
Agreed, there are roads in worse condition, but this one gets the most traffic being the main coast road.
