no other watch on the premises of a watch repair shop ?
sounds very odd indeed !!
did the repair shop have a 'body' it belonged to that she could complain to ?
also could she not raise an issue with a small claims dispute procedure ?

it raises a few issues about getting a proper descriptive receipt for what you leave to be repaired at any shop really.
Was she given a receipt ? (probably not if it was just for a simple battery fit)
A photo might help avoid such problems in future, if it is a very precious watch but you don't expect to have to go to such lengths with a reputable dealer.
