I am assuming Harvey's Tea Stores is a brand thing rather than the name of the shop, but do correct me if i'm wrong.

83 St Georges Road Shop
Re: 83 St Georges Road Shop
Is this the same place? No sign of a shop today, it's just a residential area on the corner or Calvert Road, which itself drops down south from Mount Pleasant Road:

Yep that's the one, corner of Calvert Road and St George's Road. Interesting eh?
Re: 83 St Georges Road Shop
I see some mention of shops, probably of a later date, down at the low-numbered end near Whitefriars/Vicarage road, so clearly it was not alone:

Re: 83 St Georges Road Shop
Perhaps someone could check the census ?1901 to see who lived at no. 83.
Re: 83 St Georges Road Shop
The search facility on FindMyPast is not very easy by way of street name.
The name Harvey comes up hundreds of times -eg Harvey Du Cross the Tory MP.
Nothing comes up in the newspapers for Harvey's Tea Stores/Grocers.
A better possibility is for a local to look at Kelly's or Pikes Directory

Re: 83 St Georges Road Shop
Libraries offer free access to the Ancestry and Find My Past websites. They include the census of the UK population from 1841 to 1911.
Some libraries and the record office hold full census data for Sussex 1841 to 1911
I think it means going to east sussex libraries online and using your library card and pin to access records - I could try later but am a little tied up at the moment!

Re: 83 St Georges Road Shop
I have all the census available but my system does not allow me to search by road name. Ancestry may allow it. Pikes & Kelly are not online yet
Re: 83 St Georges Road Shop
If it is any help, the 1935 Pikes directory shows the resident as R. Harvey (general store) . By the mid 50s it was the Orange Cafe owner Frank Meeks.
