Parsons family
Re: Parsons family
Might Rosemount be the other house ?
Re: Parsons family
Many kind thanks for the information, extremely useful. I am positive that I have heard of Rosemount, so will need to check on old newspaper cuttings to see if I can find it.
I am lucky that I have inherited a family photo album dating from the 1890s up until the 1920s, but unlucky that nobody is named and no locations are named. So a case of trying to identify locations and people.
I also have a photo in the album of the Alexandra Hotel, which I believe was in Hastings? I believe that some of the Parson families interests included hotels.
The family was also married into the Hickman family of Hole Farm in Hastings, but I am not sure if the photos show Hole Farm?

Re: Parsons family
These are interesting photos, but unfortunately little clue as to where they are. However, I have wondered if they might represent some sort of party for staff at F.J. Parsons?
Re: Parsons family
More very interesting photos! If only we knew more. The only thing I know about Hole Farm is the modern estate and Hole Farm Close where my cousin lives! I've seen a similar photo of the hotel before but I think it was soldiers on the balcony during WW1.
Re: Parsons family
These are the Hickmans in 1923 including Hole Farm.
There's a Mrs. Parker shown for the hotel.

Re: Parsons family
The Alexandra Hotel is on the Hastings seafront just past the pier going towards St Leonard's and is now converted into flats, having closed perhaps in the 1980-90s
It was amongst the places that issued lists of guests who would be staying there and they were published in the local press

Aha !. It was off St Helen's Rd which explains why I couldn't reconcile the photos with any map of Hole Farm, Westfield Lane.
No time to explore maps for a day or two.

Many kind thanks for the added information.
I am wondering if the house might be Hole Farm?
I have found an article about a sale in 1945 which would suggest that it was a fairly large residence. The old couple would fit in as John George Hickman (1839-1916) and his wife Emily Wildish (1841-1915). One of their daughters, Julia Hickman (1877-1867) had marred Joseph Parsons (1875-1937) of Cumberland House in 1900.

If you are researching the Parsons family did you know that they came from Beckley ?

Frederick Joseph was the son of Joseph.
Joseph was the son of Frederick J.
Frederick J was the son of Isaac.
Isaac was the son of James and Mary and born in Beckley in 1820
