What is Nelson Road like?

Postby Sarahh » Sat Dec 29, 2018 3:19 pm

Moving to Hastings soon (hopefully)
Was just wondering if anyone can shed some light on what Nelson Road is like? I know Hastings a little bit from visiting so often but not the ins and outs. So would like to know if its a no go or not!
Many thanks x

Nelson Road is ok - not in one of the nicest areas of Hastings nor is it especially dubious. Atleast near the town centre and the supermarket, but not so nice for walking around late at night. As has been said before, you need to spend time walking around so as to get an immediate "feel" for an area and see whether you like it.

Also check through the numerous posts about the best and least desirable parts of the town.

That is really helpful to know, thank you for that. I am a young gal moving out by myself so it's absolutely essential it's the right location and I feel 100% safe.
Thanks again :)

Nice to get some thanks, some don't!

Good luck. You are far safer here than in many towns and parts of London. I went to Dover in September - after dark, everything in the centre closed down and it felt very intimidating. After three dark-skinned guys started following me, I fled back to the hotel ..

Sarahh, I agree with seahermit, you will be quite safe almost anywhere in Hastings.
Nelson Road is a hair-pin bend up a hilly road, so why choose that area in particular, it seems a little isolated also?
I'd prefer a small flat overlooking a green space or the sea and close to shops but it's your choice.
No disrespect to anyone living there - a home is what you make of it.

I moved to Nelson Road 2 years ago and love it. It is in a perfect location for exploring everything that Hastings has to offer. We jokingly say that it is 11 minutes walk from everywhere. It literally takes 11 mins to walk to the old town(over smugglers), to the train station, to our allotment(bembrooke), to the pier(at a push!), to the beach(via Millward) and to the train station. Of course, it is very convenient for shopping, being a stones throw from Morrisons and the now vibrant Queens Road. Alexandra Park is 5 mins walk and the Imperial with their top pizzas and craft beers is on your doorstep. Sorted!
