I am writing to say how disgusted I am with employers who don't reply when people have spent time and care completeing a job application form. It's not fair. Just a quick phone call, letter or email is all that's needed, but most firms just can't be bothered: it's so disappointing. This shouldn't be allowed and there should be a law that says everyone should get a reply.

I agree, it's really bad when prospective employers don't even get back to you. Just a generic letter would do, that they could send to all applicants. Hearing nothing back keeps you hanging on. I am suprised at ASDA being guilty of this.

What sort of work are you looking for Paul?

You never know who might be your next employer so make an effort to come across as best as possible to others in every aspect of your life. Not just on an application form.

For example someone reading this might well need an office hand or supermarket security guy, you never know.

To be fair, when an employer, especially in a small business recieves dozens of applications it can involve considerable time and expense to write to every applicant. In an ideal world they should do of course.

The current government's policy of forcing people to chase after every job that becomes available and even jobs that simply don't exist, whilst at the same time demonizing them for being unemployed and calling them scroungers is likely to make matters even worse in the very near future.

I agree, ideally employers should write back to every applicant. I'm sure it can't be that difficult to have a generic letter they can send out to all applicants as Mags pointed out. All they need do is change the name at the top and post it. However, I guess it depends how many applicants they get, 300 stamps isn't going to be cheep these days.
