i am looking for info on the above centre,i know it was built in 1964 by the round table.its other names over the years have been the zodiac centre,1066 centre.scaffold centre. I would be grateful for any info and pictures and storys to tell. It is now called the Priory Neighbourhood Centre.the centre closed down in feb of this year. it is been rebuilt in to a brand new community building.it would be nice to put the centre in to words and pictures in entrance of the new centre

Hi Pauline, Back in the early 70's I accepted a post with the Hastings Board of education as a Youth and Community Officer. The main part of the job was to create a Community Centre in Ore at an old Victorian School. Another part of the job was to take over the management of the Round Table Youth club. The buildings were quite a bit away from each other But the plan was to bring them together for use by the whole Community. The youth club did in fact become the Zodiac club, a name chosen by the members themselves. The old School became Ore Centre and catered for social provision and further education on a members only basis for anyone over the age of 16 years. The Zodiac club offered activities to all young people and for the first time we were able to offer daily activities for children from 5-6 years of age based on the idea that the younger children would have to arrive and leave on a staggered scale based on their age. The membership increased tremendously and there was never a problem in getting kids to go home on time.I must leave now but will get back to you again_ _ _Ernie Towner
