Hiya. I live in Farley Bank and though some small minded people look down upon people who live in this area it isn't actually that bad. I have lived here for 6 years now and have to say it has improved so much since I moved in. It is alot quieter and there is rarely any trouble down here. Unfortunately the reputation has stuck but it is a great area. No worse than anywhere else. If you move into one of the flats they are a great size, close to a playpark (handy if you've got kids) and easy to get to town and ore from here.
This area really is not such a bad move!!!!
I hope your move goes well and you enjoy living here

I've been at the top end of Farley bank for about a year now and find it a reasonable area. There are a few people who are a bit noisy of a night, but on the whole, everyone is quite friendly.
Ore is good for buying bits and pieces and has all of the essential shops, with as Peachy says, easy to get into town.

Hi Paul,
They're not too bad - just seem to have a habit of meeting in their front gardens late at night!!
Probably me being a grumpy old git!

Hiya, My child goes to Castledown primary and this is where I currently work. This school is a great place but of course I am biased in that opinion! It is in a deprived area but the staff genuinly love working here and really pull together to do the best they can for the school and it's pupils.
Dudley infants and All Saints juniors is considered to be the best of the schools to get your children into. It is difficult due to demand but certainly worth looking into.
We have Elphinstone school down the road but I am not sure what it is like. A mixture of pupils from different areas.
Blacklands is also, by word of mouth, the school to get your kids into but is unlikely to happen being too far from the catchment area. I have heard that apparently bullying doesn't happen in the school which sounds warning bells to me as we know it happens in all schools. Denying it worries me that it is ignored rather than dealt with! I havn't heard too many good reviews from friends whose children attend this school.
These, of course, are only my opinions and i'm sure other peoples will differ. Have a look around as many as you can so you can get a fair idea of what they are like and what you are after for your children. Hope this helps
