No problem Jean b. I'd be grateful for any photos or remeniscences (I'm sure that's spelt wrong) of the Carlisle pub before 1980 though. So far the response to this query has been rather underwhelming. And I wish people would stop calling it a biker's pub. Sure, bikers use it, but so do many other people and you're a lot less likely to get violence or trouble in the Carlisle than you are in a lot of other pubs in the town. The regulars may look fierce, but the overwhelming majority are friendly. Rant over!

Station Road cottages

Great to hear so much more about these cottages.
Jean, you mention the photo on page 39 of Gavin Haines' book, of which I have a copy. I presume the cottages concerned are those three blocks of houses at the bottom of the hill?? And is that large building beneath the sandstone boundary (described in the caption) the Railway station??
Sheila, do you have that book? If so can you identify No. 13 from it? I'd love to see the photos you have of that street too. I'll also check out the ones Terry mentions. So much information - you guys are great!!!
My Great Grandfather Henry Humphrey and his wife and their first two children lived there some time between the censuses of 1871 and 1881. They were certainly there between 1877 and 1879, the years when their other two children were born - my Grandfather Albert and his sister Theresa. They were back in London by 1881 though. I have some more mysteries there to investigate too.
