What a good idea and lets have both Primary and Secondary Schools in the list.My eldest son starts Secondary School next September and we were told William Parker was the best school in the area, your young enough to have some views on this subject !

Okay Peter, I didn't realise you were comparing to London schools when you said it was "by far the best". I hear West St Leonards and St Pauls are well rated too but can't comment on them compared to London.

Perhaps there should be a poll on the site for users to vote for their preferred school, then we will see which is best in everyone's opinion. Administrator, can you set this up?

Marina :)

Hi Everyone

Due to popular demand I have added polls for both Hastings and St Leonards primary schools. You have to be logged in as a member to cast your vote to stop cheeting. Just click "register" at the top of the forum window to sign in.

If it's a success I will do the same for Secondary schools.

Happy voting ;)

I have lived in Hastings all my life, i went to st pauls for primary, then had to learn to spell all over again when i went to secondry school. I have moved twice in the last 20 years. My eldest daughter went to Elphinstone school for the first 3 years_ _ _it were a rubbish school with a weak team o staff an i couldnt wait to get her out o there.
Robsack wood cp school see her through the rest o her primary years, an i can say with hand on my heart that it were one teacher Mrs bridget lawson the deputy head that made that school worth going too. She is gone now but my eldest daughter still hold her as a mentor.
For my youngest daughter i choose to drive 3 miles everyday to have her taught at Silverdale school. I live nextdoor to Robsackwood school, but after hearing some male teacher bellowing an shouting at the children in his charge_ _ _grrr.. i would rather piggy back my small daughter the 3 miles to silverdale school than subject her to that!! I even phoned Robsackwood school an told them if they dont shut him up, i woud call social services so they could come an have a listen to him too >:( . I were sick o hearing that bully belowing at kids, i could hear him from my garden. I believe he is gone now, but mud sticks.

Silverdale has a swimming pool an from the age o reception class onwards they get swimming lessons every other week. There is an excellent standard o teaching there an my wee duaghter has progressed very well under their care .
I cant fault silverdale, an im damn hard to please as a parent who wants the best for my brats ;)
They are proper teachers, not wannabe social workers, come raiving loonies that cant cope.

I cant recomend Silverdale cp highly enough, and im just a parent same as you guys.

ummm my girl is at Robsackwood and i was gob smacked to find out that the children at the school can tell teachers and other pupils to FU*K*FF and nothing is said to them. This is exactly what happens when teachers cant shout or have any physical contact at all with pupils for fear of loosing there job.Statistics show that there are far less men willing to teach now adays because the kids are allowed all the rights and they have none. I personaly question a teacher that can be hurd to shout lots but makes me wonder why would he be shouting perhaps the kids know the rules and take the piss knowing nothing will happen to them. I could rant for longer but feel iv said more than i probably should but thats what forums are for..

St Pauls has a good rep, plus has a new ambitious head.

Silverdale is known as the best primary in terms of results. It's sporty and well equipped.

The catholic school Sacred heart is meant to be coming on. if you're thinking ahead to secondary and st richards (bexhill) which is the area's best secondary, and catholic, worth looking at.

Hi. What is not so good about Hillcrest? My sister just got a job there and we are moving there to teach from Australia. Now a bit concerned, but we knew the Uk was going to be challenging.

Hillcrest has had very bad press as of late. It came bottom in the league tables and they also had their head teacher resign. They now have a replacement headteacher but only last week it was in our local rag (Hastings and St Leonards Observer)that the school is now going to be checked regularly at short notice or something. It would be best if you googled the observers website for any info on the school I think. I only know what I have read in there and as my son doesn't go there it's not of great interest to me. He goes to the 'other' failing school The Grove!! 8|
