Re: GUINESS CLOCK
Strange how nobody remembers the Guiness Clock.
I can remember it vividly as a child in 1957/58, and since then i have lived in Cornwall, but still have fond memories of St.Leonards and Hastings

I do recall the clock but I thought it was on the seafront. I am not that certain and my memory has let me down many, many times before
Re: GUINESS CLOCK
I remember it very well. It was not permanently fixed - it used to move around and could be seen at a number of different places in the town.

Re: GUINESS CLOCK
When i visited Hastings and St.Leonards a few years ago i visited the main museum up near White Rock Gardens and enquired about the Guiness Clock. They directed me to the entrance of the White Rock Gardens, and informed that it stood on the small piece of land just inside the gate. I did not ask if it was situated elsewhere.

Re: GUINESS CLOCK
Sounds to me like there may actually have been two Guiness clocks at different times. I am too young to remember the one in the White Rock Gardens (I was born in 1960) but I do definitely remember a mobile one on the seafront by the White Rock Baths in either 1966 or 1967. My reason being so sure of the year is that I was at Dudley Road Infants school at the time and when we were doing the alphabet and the teacher asked for things beginning with G, I suggested Guiness Clock. Which was all very well until she asked us to draw our suggestions meaning I had to draw the Guiness clock_ _ _
