Children are being killed by dogs with almost weekly regularity and what does this risible excuse for a government spend its time on? Why, dreaming up unenforceable legislation about smoking in cars, that's what! Is anyone else getting worried?

Re: Getting our priorities right.
There have been 17 deaths due to dog attacks in the UK since 2005.

Research indicates that 300,000 children in the UK visit a GP each year because of the effects of second-hand smoke, with 9,500 going to hospital.

Re: Getting our priorities right.
the stats on 2nd-hand smoke effects are very misleading and headline-grabbing.
1. how would you know the child went to a G.P. or hospital directly because of the passive smoke inhalation?
It might have had a condition such as asthma already, although potentially aggravated by second-hand smoke.
2. In the home smoking would have a far greater potential effect on younger children and it cannot be policed easily as far as I can see.
3. Just how many people smoke in a car with young children?
They should of course be heavily criticised for being so darned irresponsible , but education must be the better way ahead.
4. How many children are obese because irresponsible patents stuff them with fatty foods causing many problems in later life?
We might as well outlaw all kinds of maltreatment of children at home but even then it cannot be stopped.
A sense of perspective seems to be lacking in knee-jerk legislation.
Time flies like an arrow; fruit flies like a banana.

You can't educate morons. But as it can't be enforced it's just a waste of parliamentary time.

About as misleading as your knee-jerk reaction and hilariously inaccurate statistics: "Children are being killed by dogs with almost weekly regularity_ _ _"
I am sure you are going to mention UKr/-\p at some point so why not hurry up and try.

Re: Getting our priorities right.
you've got the wrong person old boy !!
I never mentioned anything about children and dogs with weekly regularity.
By the way a wee kiddie was killed by a staffie-type dog yesterday.
