Advertising & Memorabilia Gallery

Postby Geoff » Mon Jul 07, 2014 9:51 pm

I am thinking of adding a new section to the galleries for Old Hastings Advertising and Local Memorabilia. Do you think there would be an interest in this? I have quite a few old publications I could scan the adverts from.

Like these two for example...

The two items that you give as examples are most interesting, what was the date of the publication? From the mention of "colonial" it would seem to be at the height of our empire days.
Certainly think it is a worthwhile subject.

Hi Tom, the advert appeared in a schools handbook that was published in 1932. Both very interesting as you say.

The new gallery is now live. I have added some scans from a couple of publications. Mainly hotels from the 80s at the moment. I'm amazed how many there were!

Any more old ads I receive will be added here http://www.1066online.co.uk/gallery/old-photos/old-adverts-memorabilia

Feel free to contribute anything you think might be interesting to our visitors ;)

Brilliant feature Geoff. Interesting to see which places still exist or have been converted.
Have sometimes wondered what block of flats I post to used to be in their former glory.
