Likes and dislikes about Hastings

Chichester, for some reason, seems to be the ? Diocese? to which the Parishes in Hastings (and elsewhere regionally) belong.
I'm not sure how the Churches in Hastings were controlled by Chichester but presumably St Mary's In the Castle was originally founded by a certain 'French connection' and perhaps escaped 'reformation' of any kind by Henry VIII.
At the least it seems to have been connected with a 'Church' sited in the Castle.
