Will be visiting the UK soon for a holiday and our 8yo daughter has only one request - to visit a "pebble" beach. Given that all our beaches are golden sand the idea of the beach with pebbles instead has her quite fascinated. Does Hastings or somewhere nearby have a "pebble" beach to satisfy our bemused daughter? Thanks for any suggestions.

Re: Looking for a pebble beach
One of our most interesting beaches is Pett Level. It is beach but has a lovely long low tide with rock pools to explore. However similar to Bexhill-on-Sea it was once a forest in the durasic period, it has since been reclaimed by the sea. However at low tide you can walk across the sand and see wood jutting out of the sand, at first glance you may mistake it for driftwood. It is actually the tops of trees preserved by the salt in the sea. It is known as a sub-terainian (can't spell I am afraid) forest.
I hope you enjoy your stay.
