try http://www.hastingschronicle.com/catagories/

This website may not contain the info you want, but it gives a fascinating glimpse into life in Hastings between the mid 19th and early 20th centuries and blows the "Chocolate Box" fantasy of Victorian England to pieces. An 11 year old birched for stealing 12 and a half pence worth of lead, babies and children being murdered, disabled men being jailed for begging etc. It also contains some quaint and amusing stories such as the perils of being a barmaid.
