While researching old postcards I came across one dramatically 'celebrating' the pier voluminously engulfed in plumes of smoke during that famous fire of 1917.

I wish I could upload it to this site as another historic Hastings reference. Maybe you might consider a facility that will allow visitors to the Hastings website to do this after you have vetted pictures sent.

Postcards were an 'instant form of communication' at that time with several collections made a day. And; many of those postal collections were guaranteed same day delivery. In our era of "mass communication" you'll be lucky if a first class stamp achieves you 'next day delivery'.
