I can't think where Stockleigh Road is, but I would say to those slagging Hastings: by all means please leave and go and live somewhere you think is better. Then come back when you realise drugs and alcohol abuse are the scourge of almost every UK town. Christ, have you never been to Brighton? Or London? Hastings is really not that bad. Wake up!

Unfortunately criticising and stereotyping Hastings has become so easy, people don't even think before they do it. Maybe I'm deluded, but I've lived all over the UK in over twenty towns and cities and none of them are as beautiful or interesting.

I agree St Leonards town area is pretty shabby and I'm not sure how it could be improved - it's a bit of a lost cause - but everywhere else is fine and some places are gorgeous. What about Maze Hill right next to it? A stunning area. There is some great housing in Hastings. The quality of life here is really good.

I certainly don't agree that Hastings town is 'getting worse'. It's recently got a new train station, a university centre, some great new shops and cafes.

Take your blinkers off, look around you and cheer up you miserable gets!

Stroood boy you are not qualified to comment son, blinkers? my eyes are wide open and i tell it how i see it m yes i have worked in Brightin , London and pretty much all over the South Coast and you only have tyo go so far as Eastbourne to see , a clean town , even the run down areas are in bettter nick than st leonards, a couple of statisticsm Hastings and St Leonards is the suicide capital of Britain for men betweeen 25 and 40 also it has the highest teen pregnancy rates and crime rates , so before you bestow on us the benefit of your wisdom, try living in a place for more than one year and you might actually be taken as a relevant source of information , as you say you have lived in over twenty rowns and cities you obviously have a mass of experience, this is not a peraonal attack mate but i have lived here 38 years and i feel i am better qualified to comment than your self , hope you are still around to read this .

Hastings is on the up my brothers and sisters, just look at all the positive stuff being built, the only people that are really negative about Hastings and St Leonard's are the people that have lived here all there lives and have never really left the town.

Now stockleigh rd, i know its not great but in five years it could be a nice road.
