Hi Brett, and welcome. Bohemia Road is a very busy main road which runs directly to the town centre. It has an array of shops and takeaways, of which the fish shop next to the chemist is excellent, and a curry house, which is ok. the chinese is a bit hit and miss. loads of pizza houses. not sure what they're like as i live 2 seconds from dominoes so generally stick with them. As for schools. You've got Christchurch in Tower Road, and St Pauls in Horntyre Road. Silverdale is other other side of Silverhill so perhaps a little far if you walk every day I really couldn't say what the schools are like these days. I went to St Pauls but that was 20 years ago.
Don't be put off by what you have heard a about St Leonards. Move down and make up your own mind. Good luck. ;)

St Pauls seems to be the choice school of the three, although Silverdale is well rated too.

Bohemia Road is a busy main road into Hastings but if you don't mind the traffic it is conveniently situated. Town centre just a short walk down the hill at one end and Silverhill with it's shops etc at the other.

As well as the park I would recommend Summerfields Woods which will be near you too!

Take aways are situated in your road, silverhill and central st leonards so plenty to choose from. As well as your normal Macdonalds and KFC etc in the town centre.

St Leonards isn't as bad as people make out. I enjoy living here ;)

Summerfields woods is hidden away down the back of the fire station and leads all the way down to the town centre. I had never heard of it until I found it on this website and now I visit on a regular basis. You can access it from the back of St Pauls school so should be quite near you.

Have a look at http://www.1066online.com/HASTINGS-MAIN ... woods.html for more information.

Your fiance will soon make new friends. Hastings is a really friendly town.
Yes Summerfields woods are lovely, with some beautiful features, like the mock Roman bath and the Ice house. And, as Magdelene said, its a good short cut from your area down to the town centre.
What sorts of things is your fiance into. Maybe me and the other forums members could suggest some clubs, groups for her to attend to make new friends.

Hi Joanne, welcome to the forums and welcome to Hastings. It must be worrying moving from everything you know and are familiar with to a completely new town. But, this is a nice place to be. Many people who have moved from London and elsewhere have popped into these forums to say how much they like it here and how the bad press we get in this are is not justified.
You will be fine and life will be good here.
Don't hesitate to contact if you want info on the town, social, work whatever. there is a good group of us on here with plenty of local knowledge. just shout.x
