Access to the beach?

Postby Belle » Sun Sep 28, 2008 9:43 pm

Hi Everyone

Could someone please tell me if there is a pedestrian access to the beach from down on Bexhill Road, Bulverhythe Road or Cliftonville Road? Am looking at a few houses in this area but see the railway line runs right by the beach and I'd love to be able to get onto the beach quite directly rather than have to walk miles to get to it.

Is there any sort of footpath tunnel running underneath?

Thanks

B

Comming from Hastings_ _ __ _ _..go past the bo-peep pub, past MFI and just before the railway bridge turn left onto Cinque Ports way, go right at the top and keep walking through all the beach huts. The foot path goes all the way along :)

[If you walk along Bexhill Road about half way there is a foot bridge over to the beach. I think it by the train storage area

It's either that or there is a foot bridge over the railway at the end of Bridge Way. Unfortunately you have no access from Cliftonville Road itself.

Like GK says there is a beach path that goes all the way along the sea side of the railway which makes a great walk from St Leonards to Bexhill.

Here are some photos I took not so long ago. The first one is supposed to be an arty shot of the footbridge, and the second shows the major sea defences along Bulverhythe (you can just about make out the footbridge in the middle of the shot).
